Guest Designer April/May 2009
Karyn Campbell

We are so excited to announce our very first Guest Designer......Karyn Campbell.  We have interviewed Karyn and you can see our interview below.  But first, we'd like to thank Karyn for agreeing to be our first Guest Designer.  And we would like to encourage you all to stop by her blog at A Froglady Creation .  We are looking forward to seeing some wonderful designs by Karyn and will be posting them on our blog and in our gallery.  In addition, we are hoping to also be posting a tutorial and project by Karyn in our Classes section of the ED website.  Stay tuned.

ED: Karyn, where are you originally from?  And what state do you reside in currently?
Karyn: I was born and raised in NE Ohio, diverted for a bit to PA after marrying but we are back in NE Ohio once again but gosh I wish it were someplace warmer!

ED: Tell us a little about your family life?
Karyn: I am married with one adult daughter.  We live in a rural area, not close to mass shopping or entertainment so we spend a lot of time just hanging out at home.  I work part time in the construction industry.  Since I only work part time now I have more crafting time but sometimes I think since my life is less structured I actually get less done LOL!  Stamping for me is relaxing and I can easily spend a whole day dinking around in my craft room!

ED: What are your hobbies (other than stamping)?
Karyn: I love to read, listen to music, spend time with my family, play on my computer and chat.

ED: How long have you been stamping?
Karyn: My mom was an artsy person so I have stamped off and on with her for forever but I really got into it about 5 years ago I think.

ED: How did you get interested in stamping to begin with?
Karyn: My daughter and I decided at the last minute to attend a demonstration at the big barn while camping one weekend!  She walked away with a stamp set ordered and I walked away hooked LOL!

ED:  How is your stamping space set up?
Karyn:  I have a small office room that has stamping stuff on and along 3 walls with my computer on the other.  It is small where I can wheel my chair around to each side without much problem and everything is usually within arms reach!

ED:  What is your favorite medium to stamp on and why?
Karyn:  I love to stamp on white or cream paper and to color.  I occasionally use chipboard too and find that it makes nice sturdy pieces.

ED:  What is your favorite technique and why?
Karyn:  Well I am a Technique Junkie and I love to try new things but I seem to come back to backgrounds a lot and lately using my Copic markers to make them.  Very similar to Polished Stone.

ED:  What is your favorite coloring medium and why?
Karyn:  Copic Markers are my favorite - I love to practice and try to keep working on my blending techniques.

ED:  Where do you get your inspiration?
Karyn:  I find inspiration all over, I blog hop a lot and look through galleries, when the weather is nice I get outside and nature is a perfect inspiration with all the variety and color!

ED:  Anything else you would like to add?
Karyn:  I am delighted to see Mel getting her dream off the ground and so tickled to be a part of it!  I wish Elemental Doodles all the best!

Karyn, we at ED are excited to have you here as our Guest Designer and are anxious to see what you come up with using our stamp designs.  :-)
