Guest Designer June/July/August 2009
Sarah White
Our Guest Designer for June-August 2009 is an amazingly talented artist.....Sarah White. We have interviewed Sarah and you can see our interview below. But first, we'd like to thank Sarah for agreeing to be our first Guest Designer. And we would like to encourage you all to stop by her blog at Stampin with Sarah . We are looking forward to seeing some wonderful designs by Sarah and will be posting them on our blog and in our gallery. In addition, we are hoping to also be posting a tutorial and project by Sarah in our Classes section of the ED website. Stay tuned.

ED: Sarah, where are you originally from? And what state do you reside in currently?
Sarah: I was born and raised in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. Although I still think of myself as a New Englander I came to Maryland for college and have never left. We live in Annapolis, MD and really love it.
ED: Tell us a little about your family life?
Sarah: My husband John and I have been married for almost 10 years. We met while teaching, I taught fifth grade and he was the P.E. teacher. We have two sons, Reid is 5 1/2 and will start Kindergarten in the fall and Elias will be two in July.
ED: What are your hobbies (other than stamping)?
Sarah: My hobbies include scrapbooking, running, reading and surfing the blogs. This is all of course when everyone else is in bed.
ED: How long have you been stamping? And what sparked your interest in this wonderful artform?
Sarah: I have been stamping for about 5 years. I had been scrapping forever and I had never stamped. I was invited to a Stampin' Up party and as soon as I started playing I knew right away that I was hooked. I signed up as a demonstrator that day.
ED: How is your stamping space set up?
Sarah: I have a great stamping room right next to my bedroom. My favorite part about it is the work table. I went to this great furniture store looking for a dresser for Elias and came home with this table. It has an antique look to it but is so functional. I would post a picture but it is never clean enough to show. I also have one of those Ikea 12 x 12 units where I put all my stamps and supplies. I am constantly cleaning and rearranging.
ED: What is your favorite medium to stamp on and why?
Sarah: My favorite medium to stamp on is either white cardstock since it looks so crisp and clean or my scrapbook pages. I think stamps add great embellishments to my pages without costing that much.
ED: What is your favorite technique and why?
Sarah: I try to try lots of different techniques but I am basically a simple stamper. With that being said I do a lot of masking, paper piecing and embossing. I love designer paper and I love to use layers on my cards.
ED: What is your favorite coloring medium and why?
Sarah: When I first started stamping I only bought stamps that didn't require coloring. I was very intimidated by markers, and crayons and even water colors. I have since branched out and use all three. I recently went to a Copic 101 class and am pretty much hooked. I have started my own small collection. I still use my ink pads to color, you know the technique where you make a pool of ink and use a blender pen to color. Sounds archaic with all the great coloring tools out there, but it works for me. :)
ED: Where do you get your inspiration?
Sarah: I get my inspiration from pretty much everywhere. I am a huge blog surfer and I also love magazines.
ED: Anything else you would like to add?
Sarah: I fell in love with Friendship Tea the first time I saw it. I love the tea bag and the spoon. The details on the set are amazing. I also love Firecracker USA, I would love to use the images in that one to make my own designer paper. I love the new set Just a Note, the envelope is super neat.
I am so excited to be a guest designer for ED. The details of the stamps really hooked me and I am thrilled that Mel asked me to be apart of her dream.
Sarah, we are excited to have you here as our Guest Designer and are anxious to see what you come up with using our stamp designs. :-)
