Shrink Film Key Chain

Shrink Film Key Chain
Project & Tutorial by Samantha Star - March 2009

Supplies Used:

  • Shrink Film
  • Various Markers
  • Staz-On Ink
  • Crop-O-Dile
  • Hardware for keychain
  • Scissors
  • Oven

  1. Trace and cut out a circle on the shrink film.  Keep in mind that things will shrink up to 40%.  I used a thick black marker when tracing because I wanted the black border as part of my final project.
  2. Stamp your image using a permanent quick drying ink (I used Staz-On).
  3. Decorate using permanent markers (I used Zig Pens by EK Success).
  4. Make sure to punch your hole prior to baking.  I used a Crop-O-Dile.  A 1/8" hole punch works fine.
  5. Place in your oven and bake according to the manufacturer's recommendations.  The film might start to curl while baking, but don't panic, from my experience it will always flatten itself out.  I keep a plastic chopstick on hand just in case.

    (before and after baking)
  6. Once your item has cooled, add your attachments, whether it before earrings, a key chain, a cell phone charm... the sky is the limit!
